lmao the mods on beehaw lemmy locked my posts telling people to not use #ladybird with the comment
"Based on the content of the linked post and the evolution of the thread here, the mod team has decided to lock this post. There is an important difference between standing up for people who are marginalized and harassment, which this thread has been more or less equating. Please deal with this topic in a more nuanced manner going forward."
what a bunch of fucking pussies
i guess it's only "standing up for people who are marginalized" when you're nice and quiet and don't make a scene
and it becomes "harassment" when it makes the cishets sad
and the mods on lemmy.ml just straight-up deleted my fucking posts lmao
so now the only version of that thread still up and able to be commented on is at https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/13898132
lmao and the lemmy.world mods just removed the one remaining post wtf
@vantablack the amount of fuss folk on that dev team are making about *not* merging inclusive PRs just makes me more suspicious of the motives of the devs, particularly if this is meant to be a "better" browser that is supposedly safer for marginalised users - and its all still vapourware (which is unsurprising if they keep pissing off potential contributors!)
BTW British Telecom started using inclusive language in their tech docs when I was doing work experience there back in *1980s* (before that such docs were /heavily/ gendered, with engineers nearly always being described as male and telephone operators (and users) as female). Some Trade Union activists pushed back against this in 1970s (one of them is a friend of mine who I work with on the community radio station).
Deutsche Bundespost Telekom were marginally better, but instead gendered everyone as male (may be where the outdated ideas come from for non-English speakers, but there are attempts to make the German language more gender-inclusive too)
@vantablack that feels like the digital equivalent of "it's only an acceptable protest if it doesn't disrupt anything, if it does disrupt anything in any way it's unacceptable" thinking
@vantablack god I wanted to ask for help in a sub there a while back and they denied my application and I guess they were doing me a favour
@vantablack did you see report that the asshole left and the project started merging PR fixing the pronouns?
@vantablack (I'm getting error while trying to fetch that, even via web, but may be unrelated)
@vantablack
Your oppressors should be so uncomfortable and sad, and stressed, they give you your rights just to get some peace!
